I have not been back to Rockaway since Hurricane Sandy. There was a lot of mixed emotions coming back in to town this day. Coming in over the bridge and just remembering the first moment I saw the hell that unfolded before my eyes. I was driving down the street and remembering all the destruction and boats (S.S.Minnow) in the middle of the road. All the generators and the military presence. When I came to hang with @rob_machado and friends it was sunny, a light cool breeze and a fresh air smell. Rockaway was back on its feet. Yes there is still a lot of work to be done but it had an energetic feel. It was moving in the right direction and everyone seemed pretty happy for the most part. As I swam with Rob I couldn’t help but look past him as he glided by seeing the buildings that were once in shambles being rebuilt to what they once were. This photo for me has a lot more meaning then just being able to swim with one of my idols. It shows strength and perseverance. I have so much love for Rockaway. #nystrong #rockaway #machado #hurley

This Dock is my favorite place is Montauk. Well it was… Things out here are changing. And for awhile there, I was trying to fight it. It was eating me from the inside out. I was furious. And the only thing it was accomplishing was making me lose sleep and almost some friends. This photo to me symbolizes the way Montauk once was. This dock was the last little bit of Original Montauk that remained. It was my portal to the way things once were when I went there. The most peaceful place I could find on land. Now that dock was bought and “fixed”. It’s changed. This frame was hand made In Montauk by my friend Jay Biondo. @antiquelumberco His family is from Montauk and has strong roots here. He’s a great carpenter. He loves this town just as much as I do. But what people might not know is that he’s an amazing artist as well.I had a dream and vision of this Raw frame for this piece Bark and all. No sandpaper. Just as is. I told Jay my idea and like the magician he is he made it happen. So this is the beautiful product of two guys who love this town so much and had a vision. I get to walk into my house and see it everyday. I get to have my portal to the original Montauk in my living room. Thank you so much Jason. This means everything to me. #hickory #raw #liveedge #superheavy #montauk #duryea #dock #winter #snow
